Many of these methods involve combat, but crafting and gathering also offer a steady flow of Gil. The weekly Challenge Log, daily roulettes and beastmen questing also help increase player incomes.
Level Up Your Crafting and Gathering Classes
The game’s crafting and gathering classes work hand in hand, and having both maxed out will help players get ahead of the curve when it comes to gearing up for new content as it’s released. The amount of gil needed to level these classes may seem daunting, but there are ways to expedite the process and minimize the ffxiv gil spent.
One of the most straightforward methods is to complete Levequests, which request specific items for completion and can be turned in weekly. These are the easiest way to level up your non-combat classes and can add a decent amount to your income.
Another method is to sell items on the Market Board, which can be done in any shopping district in any city. This can be a bit riskier since you don’t know what items will be available, but if your items are in demand and you can offer a competitive price, you could make a decent amount.
Finally, you can also earn a fair amount of gil by completing Treasure Maps. These can be found at any in-game vendor and offer a random chance at various rewards, including gear. While the gear isn’t necessarily top-tier, it can still be a good way to increase your earnings if you have the patience. In addition, completing Treasure Maps often gives you the item Dark Matter, which is used to repair gear without needing a Mender NPC.
Explore Treasure Maps
If you’re an early gamer, a big way to make Gil is to level up your crafting and gathering classes. That way, you can gear up quickly and take on new content with ease.
In addition to that, many of the core gameplay systems in FFXIV reward you with Gil for participating. Quests, dungeons, raid boss chests and even the Duty Roulettes all offer you rewards that can help you build up your wallet.
One of the more overlooked ways to make Gil in FFXIV is to use the treasure map system. This allows you to dig up treasure chests throughout the world that spawn enemies and a chance for a portal to open that will take you into a special dungeon with a higher reward pool than your regular dungeons.
These maps are available after completing the Treasure and Troubles quest and acquiring the appropriate items. The latest expansion, Ultima Thule, has added the Timeworn Ophiotauroskin map, which leads to the Shifting Gymnasion Agonon in Elpis, to the mix, alongside the existing Timeworn Kumbhiraskin map that leads to the Excitatron 600 dungeon.
Sell Items on the Market Board
Most MMOs that have a non-RMT currency system give players a kickback for their efforts – quests reward Gil, dungeon and raid boss chests will often yield Gil as well, and players can also make a decent amount of gil from the Market Board if they know how to play it right. However, the market is a cutthroat one and it can be easy to get undercut by other players who are trying to sell items as cheaply as possible, which can send a listing’s price plummeting until no one will buy it anymore.
A better option is to get a Retainer and use them to list your items on the Market Board from their inventory or yours, which will save you money in the long run. Retainers can also go on explorations to passively accrue a variety of items for you, including animal hides, ores and wood, and crafting materials like leather and cloth.
Finally, Retainers can do leves for you, which can be a great way to earn more gil than you might normally make from other activities. Leve allowances are limited, however, so you will need to keep recharging them as you use them up if you want to continue to see this benefit.
Go on a Treasure Hunt
In FFXIV, as with most MMOs, Gil is the lifeblood of the game. It is used for everything from leveling up your crafter and gatherer Jobs to buying the cosmetics you want like glamour gear, minions and mounts. Players also need Gil for housing, food and potions for raiding as well as having money to spend on the few Gil sinks that the game does have at the high-end.
Since A Realm Reborn, a favorite activity of the FFXIV community has been going on treasure hunts to earn massive amounts of gil in an easy and fun social environment. The process involves acquiring treasure maps, deciphering them, and then heading to the location on the map where an “X” marks the spot to dig for some rewards.
Treasure hunts are a great way to get crafting materials, house furnishings, Tomestones and even some rare glamour items. In addition, they’re a good source of gil, which is the primary currency for buying new items in the Market Board.
You can obtain a Treasure Map from the NPC H’loonh in Eastern La Noscea once you reach Level 36. To use them, select the corresponding key item from your inventory and then click on your action menu to find the “Decipher” and “Dig” actions (you can also type /ac Dig into chat to perform these). Once you have a Treasure Map in hand, look for it in your overworld and head to the location marked by the X.
