Stokes Will Not Play in The IPL, But Anderson and Archer Will Play

According to new regulations that the IPL established last month, the 33-year-old will also not be permitted to participate in the 2026 tournament.

However, speed bowler Jofra Archer and England’s top wicket-taker Anderson, 42, who retired from international action in July, have put their names forward.

He hasn’t participated in any international T20 franchise leagues. Archer’s choice is intriguing, given that he could play Test cricket again next summer.

The 29-year-old, named the 2020 IPL’s most valuable player, has recovered from a string of elbow and back ailments this season in white-ball cricket betpro account. However, it is still anticipated that he can play against India next summer and in the 2025–2026 Ashes in Australia.

Archer might not be able to demonstrate his fitness in the longer format because the 2025 IPL and the County Championship’s early stages coincide.

This year, the IPL implemented a new regulation that stipulates foreign players signed by teams and later withdrawn will be disqualified from the competition for two years. This year’s IPL went from March 22 to May 26; the dates for 2025 have yet to be finalized.

Although it hasn’t made a list of players’ identities public, the IPL reported that 1,574 players have registered for the auction.

Over the next few weeks, teams will create a shortlist of interested players and the complete list will be released closer to the auction.

Before the auction, no England players were kept by their teams; Jos Buttler, the captain of the England white-ball team, was one of those released.

As he prepares to return from a calf injury in the T20 series against the West Indies, which begins on Saturday, Buttler joined England’s training session in Barbados on Monday.

The 34-year-old, who hasn’t played since the T20 World Cup in June, has stated that Phil Salt will take his place as wicketkeeper in the Caribbean.

Buttler has played in 106 of England’s last 108 Twenty20 matches, but he will be removed as part of the white-ball teams’ overhaul after their two world crowns were not successfully defended.
